Our Impact
At Forager Project, we believe every step, no matter how small, toward sustainability contributes to a larger journey toward a healthier planet. That’s why we’re called Forager Project—we’re always foraging forward, seeking ways to make living “planet healthy” easier for everyone.
This is our PROJECT, and we want to share it with you.
One Small Step is how we turn belief into action—embedding sustainability into everything we do, one step at a time. But it’s more than just a program. It’s a mindset that guides every choice we make. Our journey began with organic, dairy-free food made from plants, because we believed that was the most meaningful first step toward a more sustainable future.
The steps that add up. What we make, how we package it, who we work with—these are the everyday choices that, when added together, lead to real change.
People every step of the way
We believe meaningful impact starts small—on a farm, in a village, with a single opportunity. That’s the spirit behind our Cashew Project.
By investing in the Côte d’Ivoire communities where our cashews are grown, we support farmers as they navigate the challenges of climate change. Through this work, we offer training in sustainable farming practices that protect both farmers’ livelihoods and the health of the planet.
One person. One farm. One future.
Reaching 9,000 farmers with practical techniques—like pruning, erosion control, and composting—to increase yields, strengthen resilience, and protect the land they depend on.
Supporting 1,000+ farmers through the organic certification process with audits and traceability tools that ensure quality from harvest to processing.
Co-funding the construction of a new warehouse and drying yard in Djébonoua to protect harvests from moisture and improve quality and income.
Training more than 1,000 women across 18 villages in farming and business practices—and launching a Village Savings and Loan Association (VSLA) to support long-term financial independence.
A better kind of dairy
Reducing our reliance on cows starts with rethinking what dairy can be.
We believe moving away from animal-based dairy is one of the most powerful ways to help both people and the planet. That’s why we’ve invested in climate-smart crops—like organic, rain-fed cashews—that do more with less.
Cashew milk uses over 90% less water than cow’s milk, requires far less land, and generates significantly fewer greenhouse gas emissions. It also avoids the methane, manure, and runoff that come with conventional dairy. And while almonds depend on heavy irrigation, our cashews thrive on natural rainfall—making them a smarter choice in a warming world.
Packaging that goes full circle
Packaging plays a big role in getting your foods to you safely—but it also plays a big role in our environmental footprint. That’s why we’re moving away from virgin plastic and toward materials with a lower impact.
In November 2024, all Forager Project bottles transitioned to 98% post-consumer recycled plastic (rPET). Look for the green tag on the label to spot this packaging.
In fall 2025, our 5.3oz yogurt cups will shift to a minimum of 60% rPET—reducing plastic waste while maintaining the quality and freshness you expect.
We’re pairing those yogurt cups with 80% recycled paperboard sleeves—designed to be easy to separate and easier to recycle, helping build a more circular packaging system.
Our packaging shift will keep over 500,000 pounds of virgin plastic out of the environment each year. You can help make that impact even bigger. Recycling your bottle, tub, or cup is the next step in turning our efforts into something more meaningful.
We Know Packaging Isn’t Perfect—But We’re Foraging Ahead
This is just one small step on a longer road. We’re continually exploring how to move more of our packaging to post-consumer materials, increase recycled content, and test solutions that actually work in the real world. It’s not always simple—but we’re here for the challenge. We’d love for you to join us on the journey.
